Formula: Cu(CH3COO)2·H2O
CAS No.: 6046-93-1
M.W: 199.65
Properties: Copper acetate, monohydrate as blue-green powder crystal, crystal water is removed at 240℃, soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in ethyl ether and glycerol.Used as analytical reagents, chromatographic analysis reagents, also used as organic synthesis catalyst, paint drying agent, pesticide additives, enamel pigment raw materials, etc
Appearance : blue-green powder crystal
Application: Copper acetate is more commonly used as a catalyst or oxidant in organic synthesis. For example, Cu2(OAC)4 catalyzes the coupling of two terminal alkynes, resulting in 1, 3-diacetylene:
Cu2(OAc)4 + 2 RC≡CH → 2 CuOAc + RC≡ c-c ≡CR + 2 HOAc
The intermediates of the reaction include cuprous acetylene, which is oxidized by copper acetate to obtain alkynyl radical. In addition, cuprous acetylene intermediates are involved in the synthesis of acetylamine (terminal alkynes containing the amino group) from copper acetate.
